November/December: What an Edition!

Our Anniversary Issue is a keeper. Not only does it mark our
second year of publishing, but the stories between the covers are fascinating.
The editorial theme is,Women In (and out of ) Uniform, and two nurses, one who
served in Vietnam and the other who served in North Africa in WWII, see the
blood and guts and pain and sorrow of war far differently than men.

Our new columnist, Tina Mathis, writes about her passion: Connecting the unidentified remains of troops
with relatives. It is a matter of making families whole again. Few people know
about Ms. Mathis’ work, which reflects her idea about war: “We sent them
over. Let’s bring them home.”

The president of the Highland Square American Legion Auxiliary  is a delightful feature. I mean, how many Auxiliary
posts raise $4000 in a single night? There  is a method to her madness and while it seems
unusual for the Legion, the president said, “I would never do anything to
embarrass the Legion.” She’s a trooper.

New Outdoors and American
Cars columns, and a sweetheart of a history lesson taught by DD 214 Chronicle’s
chaplain, Rev. Ralph Fotia.

If you post or library
doesn’t have a copy for you, let me know.
