An armed forces reserve center, serving approximately 500 Navy and Marine Corps troops, is being constructed at the Akron-Canton Airport. The new facility will consolidate centers in Akron and Cleveland. The troops provide operational and humanitarian assistance missions around the world. Ground was broken May 5 on the 50,000 s.f. building, which is designed to be energy efficient. Current construction cost is $11 million. Construction is scheduled to finish next June.
