Screwed, Blue’d and Tattoo’d: U.S. Navy Veterans Association charged by Ohio Atty. General with being no-good, thieving, double-dealing, sons of bitches. (See legal terminolgy below.)

| (COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray today ordered the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, which claims to be a legitimate nonprofit organization, to stop all fundraising activities in Ohio. The order was issued after it was determined that the Association’s registration documents, on file with the Ohio Attorney General, contained false and misleading information.
Recent news accounts questioning the fundraising and expenses by the U.S. Navy Veterans Association in other states prompted the Attorney General’s Charitable Law Section to examine the organization’s activities in Ohio. “There are serious questions being raised about the legitimacy of this organization and its fundraising activities in Ohio and across the country,” said Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray. “We’re going to shut down this organization’s fundraising activities unless and until it can provide satisfactory answers to our questions. We need to do this to protect the hard-earned reputations of all our legitimate nonprofit veterans organizations in Ohio.” In a letter to the U. S. Navy Veterans Association and the individuals named as its directors, the Attorney General cites numerous violations of the state’s registration requirements. They include:
Additionally, investigators in the Charitable Law Section have been unable to locate any of the three people listed on the registration documents as having final responsibility for the custody of contributions in Ohio. The addresses listed for these individuals are all UPS mailboxes and the phone numbers listed are all cell phones that connect to the same voicemail box for the U.S. Navy Veterans Association. “While we honor our veterans on this Memorial Day weekend, we must remain vigilant of those fundraising organizations that seek to deceive donors and siphon off money from legitimate organizations serving our veterans,” said Cordray. He offered the following guidelines and suggestions to keep in mind when considering a charitable contribution:

Terry Lambacher Fades Away
Posted by JohnTidyman in Front Page on May 18, 2010
Terry Lambacher served two tours in Viet Nam. He was a Special Force warrior the first time, a member of the U.S. State Department the next. He passed away a few days ago. His interview is available here. Simply hit the Shows button.
A soft spoken, highly intelligent, gracious and generous man, he was fluent in Vietnamese and a student of international history and politics.
Those who knew him will miss him.
A hootch, a joint, and a stoned cat

Jim Tidyman did two tours in Thailand during the Viet Nam War. Ten hours days in the photo lab, developing film shot by reconnaissance planes.
“When I went back for my second tour, I knew my way around and decided to live off post,” he said. It was very comfortable. A small hootch with a small porch in a small village. He slept on a hammock draped over with mosquito netting. The rent was minimal.
The marijuana in Thailand was wonderful stuff and could be had for chump change.
“When I would get home from work, I’d sit on my porch, roll a joint and get high,” he said. One day a village cat walked up to him. “He was right in front of me, so I took a hit, covered his muzzle with my hands and slowly let the smoke out. He stood there for about 10 seconds, then wham! He fell over.”
While not likely to be honored by the APL or PETA, the cat came back every night to get stoned again.
Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says he “misspoke” when he said, more than once, that he was in Viet Nam. First of all, you can’t “mis-speak” more than once before it becomes, “told a lie.” Second, he didn’t even come close. He joined the USMC Reserves in 1970. The Reserves? There was a war going on; what the hell was he doing in the Reserves? Third, lying like this is an insult to every troop who did serve in Viet Nam.
Better than Westmoreland

Here are the people who, had they been in charge of the war in Viet Nam, would have had the whole mess cleaned up inside of six months.
1.) George Steinbrenner. He would use his no-cap payroll to bring in players from around the world. A battalion or two from the French Foreign Legion, Bruce Lee and a busload of ninjas, maybe a troopship of Crips. And six months after the war, the Hanoi Hilton would actually be a Hilton franchise.
2.) Martha Stewart. In addition to looking pretty hot in tailored fatigues … um, well never mind. I just thought she’d look hot in a tight fitting camo outfit. Maybe the dried ear of a Viet Cong dangling from her neck and emphasizing that cleavage.
3.) Speaking of hot uniforms, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe “Pink Pajamas” Arpaio, recreating his real-life role as a whack job who uses the Bill of Rights for toilet paper, would have had things cleaned up within a year. Mostly because he doesn’t talk to anyone in the federal branch of government, a time consuming task for every other commander.
4.) Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora. If he sat cross legged and smiled, one look at him, and the natives would believe the Buddha just returned.

An armed forces reserve center, serving approximately 500 Navy and Marine Corps troops, is being constructed at the Akron-Canton Airport. The new facility will consolidate centers in Akron and Cleveland. The troops provide operational and humanitarian assistance missions around the world. Ground was broken May 5 on the 50,000 s.f. building, which is designed to be energy efficient. Current construction cost is $11 million. Construction is scheduled to finish next June.
